The new BMW 6 Series model released in the year 2003 was built based on the BMW E64 platform and BMW Motor Corporation is still continuing its production till date. The vehicle is available in both the 2-door coupe and 2-door convertible models.
The available engines to the model include 3.0 liter I6, 4.8 liter V8 and the 3.0 liter I6 diesel engines. The vehicle provides both the 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. The 6 series models were released to fill up the gap that occurred due to the end of 8 series production.
In the year 2004 the vehicle offered 6-cylinder engines in the 630i model and was followed by the E64 convertible model. Later on, the 650i was released to replace the 645i model with 4.8 liters of displacement and 270 kilo watts of power.
The top range M6 engine was launched in the late 2005, using the similar V10 engine that produces 373 KW of power. Twin turbo charged 635d was released in the year 2007 that produces 220 KW power and 430 lb ft of torque. The 635d convertible was described as the "best 6 series of the lot" by the Auto cars.
The recent 6 series models have been revamped to provide better fuel economy as well as overall performance, and the BMW 5 series and 6 series vehicles give you an altogether difference experience, totally unmatched by any of their rivals in the market.
